AI color analysis from your selfie

One photo in daylight. Your season, palette, makeup and hair colors in about a minute.

  1. Your photo

JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB

    For the most accurate result

    • Face a window in daylight, no direct sun
    • No filter, little or no makeup
    • Hair visible, glasses off
    • Plain light background, white or grey top
  2. What do you want to see first?

Every color analysis report includes all five. Your pick only decides what opens first.

Next you pick a plan. Nothing is charged until then, and your photo is read right after payment.

Your selfie is used only for your report and try-ons and is deleted after 30 days.

What is color analysis?

Color analysis is a way to find the clothing, makeup and hair colors that make your face look clear and rested. It looks at three things in your natural coloring: undertone (warm or cool), value (how light or deep you are) and chroma (how bright or soft your coloring is). Contrast between your hair, skin and eyes is the fourth signal.

Seasonal color analysis groups those traits into four families, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, and splits each family into three seasons named after its strongest trait, for 12 seasons in total. A Soft Summer, for example, is mainly soft and then cool, so dusty rose and slate blue suit her better than black or neon pink. See all 12 seasons.

Traditionally an analyst drapes fabric under your chin in daylight and watches what each color does to your skin. An AI color analysis reads the same signals from a photo, which is faster and much cheaper, but only as good as the light in that photo.

How to do color analysis online in three steps

  1. 01

    Take one selfie in daylight

Face a window, no filter, hair visible, little or no makeup. A plain light top helps. JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB.

  2. 02

    The AI reads your coloring

It samples your skin, natural hair and eyes, judges undertone, value, chroma and contrast, and matches you to the 12 seasons with a runner-up and a confidence level.

  3. 03

    Get your color analysis report

Your season, why it fits, a 30-color palette, neutrals, colors to avoid, metals, makeup and hair shades, and 4 outfit ideas. Keep it in My reports.

Photo tips for an accurate color analysis

If the light is poor the report says so and lowers its confidence instead of guessing. For a deeper walkthrough, read how to do color analysis at home.

  • Daylight from a window in front of you. Lamps add yellow, phone screens add blue.
  • No beauty filter, portrait mode or heavy makeup; they repaint the skin color being measured.
  • Pull dyed hair back or mention it; your natural roots and brows say more than the dye.
  • Wear white, grey or nothing colorful near the face, so no fabric reflects onto your skin.
  • One face, looking at the camera, eyes open. Glasses off if you can.

Color analysis for every skin tone

Color analysis works on undertone, depth and contrast, which every face has, so it works for every skin color and for men as well as women. Deep skin is often a Deep Autumn or Deep Winter but can be a Bright or True season; olive skin often reads neutral and lands in a soft or deep color season. Read the guides on color analysis for dark skin, olive skin color analysis and color analysis for men.

The 12 color seasons at a glance

Each color season is a direction, not a box: neighbours share colors and many people sit near a border. Open a season to see its full color palette, neutrals, metals and makeup.

Color analysis price

The test, the undertone check and the jewelry check are free. The photo color analysis report comes with one of three one-time plans: Essential $29, Complete $39 with 400 credits for try-ons, or Studio Pro $59 with 1500. A try-on is 5 credits. Credits never expire and there is no subscription. See all plans. The AI reads your photo right after you pay; if it fails, your credits come back.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is this color analysis free?

The 12-question color analysis test, the undertone check and the gold or silver check on docoloranalysis.com are free and need no account. The AI photo report comes with plans from $29, because each one runs a vision model on your selfie. The AI reads your photo right after you pay; if it fails, your credits come back.

Is colour analysis the same as color analysis?

Yes. Colour analysis is the British spelling of color analysis: the same seasons, undertones and palettes. The free test and the photo report here work the same way whichever spelling you searched for.

How accurate is AI color analysis?

It is as accurate as the photo. In daylight, without filters, the report usually finds the right season family and often the exact season; it always names a runner-up and a confidence level so you can check the two. Warm lamps, filters and dyed hair are the usual causes of a wrong result, and the report flags them when it sees them.

Can ChatGPT do color analysis?

ChatGPT can give a rough opinion from a selfie, but answers change between runs and it often hedges between two seasons. DoColorAnalysis asks a vision model for a fixed, checked set of traits, a 30-color palette with hex codes and a confidence level. If you prefer ChatGPT, use our careful color analysis prompt.

What kind of photo do I need?

One front-facing selfie in daylight from a window, no filter, little makeup, hair visible. JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB. Any size works; the original from your camera, at least 512 pixels on the short side, gives the truest read.

How long does it take?

The free color analysis test takes about two minutes. A photo color analysis report is usually ready in about a minute; you can close the page and find it later in My reports.

What happens to my photo?

Your selfie is used only for your own report and try-ons. It is stored privately and deleted 30 days after upload, or right away when you delete the report. It is never used to train AI models.

Does color analysis work for men, dark skin and olive skin?

Yes. Seasons describe undertone, depth and contrast, which every skin tone has. Deep skin is often Deep Autumn or Deep Winter but can be any season; olive skin is often read as neutral and lands in Soft Autumn, Soft Summer or a Deep season. Men use the palette for shirts, knitwear and suits.

What if I am between two seasons?

That is common, and neighbouring seasons share many colors. Your report names the runner-up; wear the colors both palettes share near your face and test the rest with a try-on.

What if the analysis fails?

If no clear face is found or the analysis does not finish, your credits are returned automatically and you can try another photo.
